Bangladesh Prawn Introduction
PREMIUM PRAWNS FROM BANGLADESH
Bangladesh has a long-established tradition of prawn and shrimp production, supported by extensive river systems, freshwater environments and coastal brackishwater farming regions.
Two of the country's most commercially important premium products are Black Tiger Prawn / Bagda (Penaeus monodon) and Giant Freshwater Prawn / Golda (Macrobrachium rosenbergii). These are two different species with different growing environments, appearance, texture and commercial positioning.
EXFROZEN presents each product according to species, size, processing format, product condition, packing and buyer requirement.
GOLDA FROM BANGLADESH
Bangladesh has significant natural and farmed production of Giant Freshwater Prawn. Golda farming has long been associated with southern freshwater and low-salinity regions.

What is Golda?
A DIFFERENT SPECIES TO BLACK TIGER
Golda is not the same species as Black Tiger. It is Macrobrachium rosenbergii, a Giant Freshwater Prawn.
Although its early larval development requires brackishwater conditions, the juvenile and adult prawn grows primarily in freshwater environments.

WHY GOLDA IS DIFFERENT
IMPRESSIVE APPEARANCE
Large Golda can develop very long claws, particularly mature males, giving the species a distinctive premium appearance.
FRESHWATER CHARACTER
Unlike Black Tiger, Golda is primarily a freshwater-grown prawn during its grow-out stage.
DELICATE SWEET FLAVOUR
Golda is known for a delicate, slightly sweet flavour often compared with lobster.
FIRM WHITE FLESH
The cooked meat is white and firm, making Golda suitable for premium restaurant presentation and a range of Asian seafood dishes.

Taste & culinary positioning
DELICATE. SWEET. DISTINCTIVE.
Giant Freshwater Prawn offers a delicate, mildly sweet seafood flavour with firm white flesh.
Its large size and distinctive appearance make it particularly attractive for whole-prawn presentation and premium restaurant dishes.
